The Distinctives of Christ Community are identifying marks which communicate what we are about as a church. While not exhaustive, each of the five characteristics will help you better understand Christ Community.

   God-Centered Salvation
We long to be a church that is centered on the glory and greatness of God, especially His glory and greatness displayed in the work of salvation. While some churches tend to be man-centered in their teachings and ministries, Christ Community longs to be a church that is God-centered. This is especially true in how we view salvation. God, not man, saves. Redemption is initiated by a sovereign God. Salvation is God’s work and all that we do reflects this view.

   Christ-Centered Evangelism
In a day where many games and gimmicks are used to seek unbelievers, we use a very straight forward approach to evangelism. Our means and methods of evangelism are focused on the divine person and redemptive work of Christ. Our evangelism is very relational and we long to be a people who are friends to all sinners and who actively engage the culture with the claims of Christ. We lovingly call sinners to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as both Savior and Lord.

   Expositional Preaching
At Christ Community, one of the key identifying marks of our church is consistent verse by verse preaching that gladly emanates from an understanding of the sufficiency of the inspired Scriptures. Many messages or sermons preached in churches today are either textual (sermons preached from various passages of Scripture) or topical (sermons which deal with a particular topic). Our Pastor teaches in a verse by verse style that recognizes the centrality of the Scriptures and allows the Word to be the focal point of all Bible study. We believe in the centrality of the Word of God in the life and ministries of the church.

   Accountable Membership
Membership at Christ Community is a serious commitment and all members are held accountable to serve Christ and His church through faithfulness in regularly setting under the preaching and teaching of the Word, participating in communion, praying, exercising his or her spiritual gifts, fellowshipping with fellow brethren, proclaiming the Gospel to the lost and giving financially to the work of ministry in the church. Also, anyone seeking to join Christ Community must give viable testimony to saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and a godly lifestyle.

   Godly Leadership
One very distinct characteristic of Christ Community is the form of leadership we employ. Christ Community is not a pastor led church or a committee led church but rather an elder led church. A plurality of God-ordained men function as the shepherds, teachers and overseers of the spiritual, organizational and administrative functions of the church. This biblical type of church governance frees up the church to be and do all that our Lord has called us to be and do.
